Matthew is one of the four Gospels in the Bible, and is placed first in the New Testament. As one of the synoptic Gospels, it tells the story of Jesus' birth, ministry, death and resurrection. Its author was Matthew, one of the twelve Apostles.

Matthew is the only Gospel that includes the story of the wise men who came to see the infant Jesus in Bethlehem.
